If someone asks me about promoting a blog, I always say that content comes first, content comes second, design comes third… and social networking stuff comes somewhere in the middle of the long list of things that need to be taken care of. Sure, some say that sharing is the king, but such people usually don’t care if they have crappy content, they only think about PR, link exchange, keywords, and so on. Well… today I’ll think about Embedly (embed.ly, if you want) and nothing more!
This “one API to rule them all,” embed.ly, “allows developers to embed videos, images and rich media from 108 services through one API.” Quite impressive, don’t you think? The very long list of services supported includes notorious ones like Digg, Photobucket or YouTube, as well as sites I’ve never heard of, such as 23, wrttn.me or GodTube, with more to come in the near future, obviously.
With a single call, you can easily include single/multiple URLs, but you shouldn’t worry about multimedia content, since Embedly also offers support for video, rich HTML and images. To make it all more than just “good,” this service has code samples available for various languages, also offering a WordPress plugin. Sweet! 😉
