One of the things a lot of Windows users dream of is the Mac OS X dock. No need to say more about it, don’t you think? After all, you can always get some of that RocketDock awesomeness and have a dock right on your Windows desktop, but there’s something even better, at least for developers: a dock-like menu right on your Web page!
iconDock is the jQuery plugin that will turn the Mac OS X dock dream into reality, allowing you to easily create menus like the one pictured above. Based on the Google X approach, iconDock reached version 8.0 Beta, and has 3KB in the compressed version, with 8KB of source code in the uncompressed one.
Covered by the terms of the MIT and GPL licenses, iconDock is freely available to those interested in adding a bit of that Mac OS X coolness to their projects. Unfortunately, the official page of this project hasn’t been touched since mind-2007, but since you can go through the code and change it as you need, I am sure this jQuery plugin won’t simply fade away.
Compatibility: any major browser with JavaScript enabled, of course!
