In our days is really hard to find good and free scripts. Especially when you search for a script for e-commerce. Last month a friend asked me what script i can recommend for him. He wanted a free script for a small website where he could sell apiculture products. I tested a few scripts until i tried Prestashop.
Prestashop is a free to download and free to use e-Commerce shopping cart software. Because is Open Source you will find support and tutorials very easy. The Prestashop community has over 80000 members worldwide so you can be sure you will find answers to your questions. Prestashop is scalable and modular so you can use only what you need. Prestashop was also a online where you can find free or paid modules, themes and payment modules.
Before starting the instalation of the script you will have to make sure that your hosting service meets the following requirements: Apache Web server, PHP 5.0 or later, MySQL 4.1.14 or later. The installation is very simple. Just follow the following steps:
1. Download Prestashop and unzip it in a folder.
2. Create a database for your store. ex: prestashop 🙂
3. Turn on GD Library functionality
4. Upload the files from folder with Prestashop to the root directory.
5. Start the installer from a web browser. ex: www.yourwebsite.com/prestashop/install
6. The last step is to delete the /install folder and change the name of the /admin folder.
That’s it. Now you can start to configure your business.
