While there’s a truth that won’t be taken down too early – that people usually place negative votes on stuff they hate, and often forget to rate things they enjoyed, rating plugins and scripts for websites are pretty popular these days. Fortunately, most of them are free, and I wouldn’t have such a thing any other way, since we’re not talking about such a big deal, after all… and it may not be such a big deal, but today we’ll talk about Fyneworks.com’s jQuery Star Rating Plugin.
The Star Rating Plugin, available here, is a jQuery plugin able to create a non-obstrusive star rating control by simply turning a bunch of radio boxes/select options into the star-rating control you always needed. The interface is creted based on the standard form elements you always used, and the best part of it all is that basic functionality will remain standing even when Javascript is disabled. Awesome!
Licensed under the MIT License and the GPL License, this little piece of code could be a really nice addition to the scripts/tools package of any Web designer.
Compatibility: according to the official page, the Star Rating Plugin was tested with jQuery 1.4 on IE6, IE7, IE8, FF, Chrome, Opera and Safari, so everything should be more than fine here
