… and its name is xMDB Viewer, described by Attila Szabo, the man behind it, as “an open source browser based movie collection viewer.” Since keeping my movie collection in order has always been kind of a problem to me, I thought it would be a great idea to share with you this little treasure.
One of the reasons that made me call xMDB “a little treasure” is the fact that, despite its age, being released under the terms of the GPL license, this piece of code can be used in your own projects, and maybe you can even take things even a few steps forward. Some basic movie store, a little movie database for fans… stuff like that. Just be aware that this little thing uses client-side XML/XSLT processing, and was coded mainly in JavaScript, so if you’re not familiar with these…
That’s all, folks – xMDB Viewer is a very good tool to help you share some info about your movie collection online, and since it’s open source code… you should definitely give it a try!
Compatibility: any modern browser should be great, but I had some problems viewing the demo in Safari 4, the Windows version
